Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our kitchen installation service. Can't find the answer you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
Do you offer a warranty or aftercare on your installations?
Yes, snagging and aftercare are included as standard with every installation. If anything needs adjusting after completion, simply get in touch and we'll arrange for it to be resolved.
What makes Surchan Kitchen different from other fitters?
We provide one team managing every trade, a genuine fixed-price quote, in-house Gas Safe engineers, and aftercare included as standard - meaning you deal with a single point of contact from start to finish, not multiple separate tradespeople.
Can you install a kitchen in an occupied home while we continue living there?
Yes, most of our installations take place in occupied homes. We work cleanly and tidily, protect flooring and adjoining rooms, and where possible try to keep some kitchen facilities usable during the project.
What payment stages do you require?
Payment stages are agreed in writing at the quotation stage, typically an initial deposit to secure your installation date, with further stages linked to project milestones. We never ask for full payment upfront.
Do you offer kitchen design services, or only installation?
Our core focus is professional installation, but we're happy to advise on layout, storage and practical design decisions during your free survey, helping you get the most out of your space before you finalise your order.
Can you match the finish of my existing kitchen for a partial renovation?
In many cases, yes. We can discuss matching cabinet finishes, worktops or hardware for partial renovations and extensions, though exact matches depend on whether the original range is still available from the manufacturer.
How do I get started with a quote?
Simply get in touch via our contact form, phone or WhatsApp with some details about your project. We'll arrange a free home survey and follow up with a detailed, fixed-price quote in writing.
Do you work with landlords and property developers?
Yes, we regularly work with landlords, developers and interior designers on single kitchen installations as well as larger multi-unit projects, with flexible scheduling to suit project timelines.
What happens if you find a problem once work has started?
If we identify an issue once work has started - such as damp, structural concerns or unexpected wiring - we'll flag it immediately, explain the options clearly, and agree next steps with you before proceeding.
Do you carry out tiling and splashback installation?
Yes, tiling and splashback installation is included in our full-service offering, along with silicone sealing and finishing details for a clean, professional result.
Can you install appliances as part of the kitchen fit?
Yes, we install and connect both integrated and freestanding appliances, including ovens, hobs, extractor fans, dishwashers, fridges and washing machines, ensuring everything is properly fitted and tested.
Do I need to be present during the installation?
You don't need to be present for the entire installation, but we do recommend being available at the start and end of each day, and for any key decisions such as appliance positioning or worktop templating.
What if my walls are uneven or the room isn't a standard shape?
This is very common, especially in older London properties. Our fitters are experienced with uneven walls, awkward layouts and non-standard room shapes, and will ensure cabinets and panels are properly aligned regardless.
Which kitchen brands do you install?
We install kitchens from all leading UK and European suppliers including Wren, IKEA, Howdens, Magnet, Wickes, DIY Kitchens, Benchmarx, Kutchenhaus, Nobilia, and bespoke custom cabinet makers. If you've already ordered your kitchen, we can fit it regardless of where you purchased it.
Can you fit worktops as part of the installation?
Yes, we coordinate and fit worktops in a range of materials including laminate, solid wood, quartz and granite, working with trusted templating and fabrication partners for stone surfaces.
Do you handle electrical work during installation?
Yes, our team carries out all electrical work associated with the installation, including socket relocation, lighting, appliance wiring and connections, all completed to current regulations.
Is the price you quote fixed, or can it change once work starts?
Our quotes are fixed price. Once we've surveyed your kitchen and agreed a price, that's what you pay - there are no surprise costs added part-way through the job unless you request additional work.
What areas of London do you cover?
We cover most of Central and West London, including Westminster, Camden, Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and surrounding boroughs. Get in touch to confirm coverage for your specific postcode.
Do you remove and dispose of my old kitchen?
Yes, we handle the complete removal of your existing kitchen, including cabinets, worktops, appliances, sinks and splashbacks, along with responsible disposal of all waste materials.
Are your engineers Gas Safe registered?
Yes, any gas work required during your installation - such as connecting a gas hob or moving a gas supply - is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers as part of our in-house team.
Do you provide a free home survey before quoting?
Yes, we carry out a free, no-obligation home survey before providing a fixed-price quote. This allows us to measure accurately, check access, and identify anything that might affect the installation.
How long does a typical kitchen installation take?
Most kitchen installations are completed within 1-2 weeks, depending on the size of the room and the amount of additional work required, such as rewiring, plastering or structural changes.
Can you install a kitchen I have already bought?
Absolutely. We specialise in fitting supply-only kitchens purchased directly by homeowners from any manufacturer or retailer, including flat-pack kitchens that still need full assembly and installation.
How much does kitchen installation cost in London?
Costs depend on the size of the kitchen, the complexity of the layout and the trades required. We provide a fully detailed, transparent fixed-price quote following a free home survey, with no hidden costs added later.
Do you only install kitchens, or can you manage the full project?
We offer a complete turnkey installation service, managing plumbing, gas work, electrical rewiring, plastering, tiling, flooring and waste disposal under one fixed price, with a single point of contact throughout.
